This is the last video that I have from my November get together with Sonny. I hear that he and his family are doing much better now, though they might not quite be able to get out just yet. This is another original song that Sonny shared with me that day, this one written by his brother, Ike Reighard. In the video, you're seeing me hear the song for the first time, and I think you'll be able to tell that I immediately liked it. Just like the Valley River song, this song too was inspired by the love between close family members. Sonny explained that either his mother or grandmother (I can't remember which for sure) used the expression "penny for your thoughts" very often with Sonny and his brother when they were young boys, many times when she just wanted to start a conversation with them. So Sonny's brother Ike used the expression in this song and called Sonny up one day and told him about writing the song. Playing with Sonny was tons of fun, and I wish I had thought to sing harmony on the chorus, but somehow, it didn't occur to me until it was pretty much too late. Maybe sometime in the future, we can do the song again. In the coming weeks, I have 4 special surprise videos that I found going through some old forgotten DVD's. Two are of Pap and me singing, and two are of the Pressley Girls (Corie and Katie) when they were very young. All four of them have never been seen before by anyone other than me and my sister, Tipper. They're by no means polished, but I'm hoping that our viewers will enjoy them. Speaking of Tipper, if you haven't already, you should check out her new channel, Celebrating Appalachia. Her videos are starting to really take off in terms of viewers. I'm really happy for her and about all that she is doing to preserve and share Appalachian Culture. As always, thanks for watching!
